About Avalon Beads
Our bead journey began when I was about ten years old. A friend of mine moved to Santa Fe New Mexico, and I went to visit her for the summer of 1986. We spent a lot of time in the plaza with the Native American men & women selling their beaded adornments. A few of them taught us a little about basic bead stringing and my love affair began. In 1990 I caught strep throat, and the chicken pox. It was major bed time for me. Being the active child I was, this felt like home arrest. My mother, to keep me from puling out my hair, bought me a collection of beads. I had used them up so fast that in the three weeks it took me to get better, I went through one thousand dollars worth! Mom thought that the beads she purchased would last at least a year. At the time my mom was working two jobs, 80 hours a week! She informed me that such a habit would require me to get a job or sell some of my stuff. She also needed to recoup some of the money she had laid out. The rest is history! I have been designing and selling beads ever since.
Isabel (mom) and I have had a store front from 1992 until the spring of 2008. Our customers became friends then employees, thus becoming family. We still employ several long time friends that are excited to go with us in this next step of our journey. We are a tight team and are dedicated to bring our customers the same service and quality through the internet site and the gem & jewelry shows as we did in the stores. The only difference is without the over head we have been able to drop our prices!! We work with direct manufactures and importers from around the world.
All of us at Avalon Beads hope we can serve you the way we have in the past. Bringing you not only unique beautiful beads and bobbles, but the best quality at the best prices! We love what we do, and we believe that everyone benefits from people that not only love their work, but are addicted and passionate about what they do. Yes we are bead addicts and are not afraid to share that fact!!
